Welcome to the Shaffer Hotel in Mountainair New Mexico. I was born and raised in New Mexico. I have been in
business for over 25 years. The Shaffer Hotel is a passion of mine. I found the Shaffer while riding my Harley
through the Manzano Mountains. It is a registered National Historical site and one of the few Pueblo-Deco buildings
still in existence. After moving to Mountainair in 1908, Clem "Pop" Shaffer built The Shaffer Hotel built in 1923.
The Shaffer Hotel stands as a landmark and tourist attraction all on its own. In fact, it has been said that Pop Shaffer
still roams the halls.
I have recently remodeled the Hotel without losing its quaint charm and historical importance. It features contemporary
accommodations with old fashioned elegance.
The Shaffer features 19 rooms. The rooms range from a simple cowboy room (that shares a spacious community bath)
to our elegant wedding suite with two claw bathtubs and a wet bar. We also feature double suites for families. All hotel
rooms are furnished with antique furniture from its era.
When you are ready to eat, the Shaffer Restaurant, with its 1920’s pueblo art deco ceilings, will enhance your dining
experience. We will delight you with New Mexico's finest Mexican and southwestern delights. The Restaurant can prepare
a quiet dinner for two, or accommodate a party of one hundred. We will cater any function!
The Shaffer Hotel also houses "Pop’s" Curio Shop with 100's of items from which to choose. The Curio Shop features
Southwestern jewelry and gifts.
An additional amenity is our 80-seat convention room that easily accommodates any event. We also have a large outdoor
park with an Art Deco Gazebo and covered patio. The park easily adds to any function. Whether you’re planning a wedding,
party, or quiet get-away, we can certainly accommodate you.
We also have an exercise, billiards, and gaming room.
Our staff can help you plan weddings, meetings, parties, and get-aways. Come join us!
